THE RESTLESS EARTH
The earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. About 4.2 billion years ago
the atmosphere was thick with water and rain began to fall for the first time.
The surface of the earth is constantly moving. The continents change
position and collide causing catastrophic volcanic eruptions and
devastating earthquakes, and rises and falls of sea levels.
The oldest evidence of life on earth is 3.5 billion years ago. This date
came from stromatolites that still exist in Western Australia.
